Trappe, Pennsylvania
Trappe, Pennsylvania is borough of approximately 3700 individuals.
It is located in Montgomery County, and is about 45 minutes northwest of Philadelphia.
It is a town of mostly homes, with some agricultural and light
commercial activities. Main Street has many shops and retains much if its village
feel from previous centuries.
The borough was first settled in 1717 and formally incorporated in 1896.
Of historical significance is the Augustus Lutheran Church, the oldest unchanged Lutheran
Church building in continuous use in the United States. Also in Trappe is the home of
Frederick Muhlenberg, first signer of the Bill of Rights and first
Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The borough government comprises an elected council of seven individuals and
a mayor. There is a professional borough manager who is responsible
for day-to-day administration of the borough.
In state government, residents of the borough are represented by
Rep. Mike Vereb (150th State House District) and
Sen. Andrew Dinniman (19th State Senate District).
In federal government, the borough is represented by
Rep. Jim Gerlach (6th Congressional District),
Senator Arlen Specter, and
Senator Robert Casey.
